What it is used for
In seconds, Neuranix helps us understand how the eardrum and middle ear are functioning. We incorporate this information into the AudioClinique diagnostic pathway, alongside your consultation, ear examination and other hearing tests.
It may help identify
Middle ear fluid
It may indicate fluid behind the eardrum, a common issue in children that can make sounds seem muffled.
Otitis media
It helps identify middle ear function consistent with otitis media and indicates when medical review is appropriate.
A stiff or less mobile eardrum
It provides information about eardrum movement and whether it is stiffer or more retracted than normal.
Possible perforation
Following visual ear examination, it can provide additional information when a small eardrum injury is suspected, without creating pressure.
Checks before hearing aid fitting
It helps check for middle ear problems that need further assessment before selecting or adjusting hearing aids.
Monitoring over time
Results can be compared to see whether fluid, inflammation or another abnormality is improving.
How it fits into our diagnostic pathway
Additional information with greater comfort
Neuranix med-wave® uses patented PLAI® (Pressure-Less Acoustic Immittance) technology to analyse the eardrum and middle ear without changing pressure inside the ear canal.
The test gives professionals additional objective information to incorporate into audiological and hearing aid assessments.
- Painless, non-invasive procedure
- Objective measurement, easy to perform
- Less discomfort for people sensitive to pressure changes

Speed makes a difference
Fast testing reduces measurement time and makes the examination easier when remaining still for long periods is difficult.
Particularly helpful for children and sensitive patients
Children
The absence of pressure changes and the short test time help make assessment simpler and easier for children to tolerate.
Ear sensitivity and tinnitus
It may offer a more comfortable option for people especially sensitive to ear pressure or whose tinnitus readily worsens with unpleasant stimuli.
Information based on the manufacturer’s official documentation: med·wave® and MEDWAVE-2 clinical report.
